Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood flooring seamlessly combines the aesthetic appeal of real wood with enhanced structural stability. Crafted with multiple layers, including a hardwood veneer atop plywood or high-density fiberboard, this flooring type offers a wide range of styles and finishes, including Oak Engineered Wood Flooring.
In contrast to laminate or wood-effect flooring, featuring a printed top layer, engineered wood flooring has a genuine wood top layer known as the wear layer. Typically ranging from 3 mm to 6 mm, the thickness of the wear layer determines how many times the floor can be sanded down. 3mm and 4mm wear layers provide a well-balanced lifespan and cost-effectiveness, making them suitable for most residential settings. For high-traffic households and commercial environments, 5mm and 6mm wear layers are recommended. Additionally, engineered floors with 2mm and 3mm wear layers typically have a total thickness ranging from 10mm to 14mm (considering the core and backing layers). These sizes are great for quick and easy installation, like the click-fit method. They're also easier to customise and are more budget-friendly. On the flip side, if you go for floors with 4mm to 6mm wear layers, they tend to be thicker, around 15mm to 20mm. While they might be a bit trickier to install, they do a better job hiding any imperfections in the subfloor.
