Doors FAQ
What type of material should I choose for my doors?
When choosing a new door, there are many different types of door materials available. Some of the most popular options include wooden, laminate and composite doors. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages and some work better for internal doors, whilst others can be used for both interior and external doors.
For example, wooden doors are warm and attractive, but they can be more expensive and require more maintenance than other types of doors. Laminate doors are lower cost and offer a beautiful aesthetic but cannot be used as an exterior door as they can be prone to weather damage. Composite doors are a good compromise between wood and laminate, offering the durability and low maintenance of fiberglass with the look and feel of wood. At Bradfords, we have a great selection of doors of different materials for both internal and external use. If you’re unsure which door to choose, get in touch with our team of experts, we will be happy to advise.

What is the difference between an interior door and an exterior door?
Interior and exterior doors differ in a number of ways, including material, appearance, features, and construction.
Interior doors are designed to be used inside the home. They are typically made of lighter materials than exterior doors and are not as durable, such as wood, hollow core fiberboard, or MDF. Exterior doors, on the other hand, are made of more durable materials, such as wood, metal, or fiberglass, and are weather-resistant. Exterior doors are often more decorative than interior doors and often have features that are not found on interior doors, such as weatherproofing, door sweeps, and security locks. Interior doors may have these features, but they are not as common.
What size door do I need?
If you’re not sure which size door is right for you, the first thing you will need to do is to measure the door opening. You will need to make sure that you measure the width, height, and thickness of the opening in three different places to get the most accurate measurement. Once you have your measurements, we recommend you add a 1/4 inch to each dimension to allow for clearance.
If you need any help in deciding what size door to buy, get in touch with our team at Bradfords. We stock a great selection of internal and external doors of all widths, lengths and materials and can help you find just the right door for you.
Do doors come with hardware?
Not many doors come with hardware, such as hinges, handles, and locks. Be sure to check the product description to see what is included. If the door does not come with hardware, you will need to purchase it separately.
