Coldframes
A cold frame is a gardening structure that is used to extend the growing season, protect plants from the weather and create a microclimate that encourages plant growth. Cold frames are traditionally used in Spring to provide plants with a warmer environment than the outdoor conditions.
As well as protection from weather, they also shield young plants from pests and animals. Cold frames often have hinged lids, opening them allows the fresh air into the frame and cools down the environment on hot days.
Cold frames are mainly used to grow crops like lettuce, spinach, radishes, and herbs. They can also be used to nurture seedlings before they are transplanted into the open garden. In autumn and winter, they can be used to protect plants that would not survive the cold.
Cold frames are bulky, very fragile and can be difficult to lift and transport. Bradfords can deliver them directly to you. This will ensure they arrive in fantastic condition, ready for use.
