Sandbags

Sandbags are commonly used to prevent or reduce the impact of flooding.  They act as a barrier to block or divert water flow.  They can be stacked and placed in pyramid formations to give greater protection from flood water.  
Whilst they are often very effective, sandbanks are not guaranteed to stop flood water.  The force and height of the water, and the duration of the flood can impact the sandbags performance.
