Rebars
Rebar is short for reinforcing bar and is usually made from steel and used to reenforce concrete structures. Its main purpose is to add tensile strength to concrete, which is otherwise strong in compression but weak in tension.
It is available in a large variety of different shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. Some rebar can be cut and bent on site, to fit the needs of the design. Rebar is placed in the form work before the concrete is poured. Some bars have ribbing or indentations to improve the bond with the concrete and to resist slippage.
Rebar is very commonly used in a large variety of structures including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, bridges and retaining walls. It is available in various grades, which indicate its tensile strength. Grades 40, 60 and 75 are very common grades.
Reinforcing bars can be delivered directly to your site on a day and at a time that is convenient to you. Rebar and many other building materials are heavy, Bradfords expert delivery teams can safely handle and deliver it, saving you time.
